Open Studios 2026

Sat 30 - Sun 31st May Opening for one weekend as part of the Art House Open Studios festival organised by Arts Richmond 

Drop in, have a look around a truly unique space , and chat with us about the kinds of workshops you’d love to take part in.

Rather than exhibition of finished work this year, working artist and makers we collaborate  with, will be around in the studios at certain times over  the weekend for some demos and a chat.

This is a relaxed opportunity to explore the space at your own pace, see work in progress as well as work produced by students, and get a feel for how our short courses and longer 6 & 8-week programmes are shaped. Whether you’re looking to build a new skill, return to a creative practice, or simply try something different, we’d love to hear what interests you. Come by, ask questions, and help shape what we offer next.

Sat 30th  12.00 - 1.00pm :   Tim Wright, Senior Props Technician at Royal Opera House will be  talking about his wood turning  in up-cycled wood .

11.00 - 1.00pm :   Vicki Rutter print making relief and gel print - explore

2.00 -   3.00pm: David Whetton Discover  courses and possible projects at the workshops in wood carving

2.00 - 4.00pm: Penny Little  For anyone wanting to get their hands into the clay, ceramicist Penny Little will be showing her work in hand built porcelain and encouraging everyone to experiment with clay. .www.pennylittleceramics.com/

1.00 - 3.00pm  : Liz Zass  Embracing the 'something from nothing' philosophy  basket maker Liz Zass, uses contemporary and recycled materials for sculptural and functional pieces using  traditional basketry and weaving techniques. She will be showing 2 varieties of soft fibre basketry: bias plaiting and hexagonal plaiting  using paper and recycled materials - an ancient craft with a modern twist.

2.00 - 4.00pm  Ivan Salcedo transforms hand-decorated paper into striking book structures. Watch the process, ask questions, and discover what you could make.
